Back Where the Groove Feels Right
There is something special about returning to a room that already feels like part of your story. That is exactly how we feel about playing at the Spice of Life again. We have had some brilliant nights there, shared plenty of loud moments, and watched the room come alive to the music. So when the chance came up to return, we did not need much convincing. We are excited, energised, and already counting down the days.
This time, we will be joining forces with the Interfunk, which makes the whole thing even more exciting, as they know how to party! Their high-energy, feel-good sound fuses classic funk rhythms, soulful vocals, jazz instrumentation and reggae grooves for a memorable night. Put us together in the same room, and there is every chance the walls will be gently persuaded to move.
Putting in the Workshop Hours
Behind the scenes, we have been hitting it hard in the workshop. No, we've not suddenly become mechanics, although there's been a similar amount of tinkering, testing, adjusting, and occasionally wondering why that strange noise is happening.
Getting a band ready for a show is a lot like fine-tuning a vehicle. We have been oiling the wheels, checking the engine, tightening the crank, and making sure all the moving parts are working together properly. Every rehearsal has helped us smooth out the rough edges, sharpen the changes, and get the whole machine running with a little more power.
Some parts need a careful adjustment. Others need a proper thrashing until they behave. Either way, the workshop has been busy, and the results are beginning to show. The songs feel tighter, the transitions are cleaner, and the groove is starting to purr.
A Night Full of Funk and Soul
What we love most about playing live is that preparation only gets you so far. Once the first note rings out, the audience becomes part of the engine room. Their energy feeds the band, the band feeds it back, and suddenly the whole place is moving together.
That is what we are hoping for at the Spice of Life: a packed room, a few raised glasses, plenty of dancing, and a set that leaves everyone feeling better than when they arrived. We will bring the songs, the sweat, and the finely tuned machinery. Interfunk will bring their own flavour, fire, and rhythm.
